In World of Warcraft 11.0's "Battle of the Depths," the first season of Mythic+ dungeons officially opens this week. The new season introduces not only new affixes but also a new scoring system. Mythic+ dungeons will no longer differentiate between Fortified and Tyrannical weeks. Now, each dungeon will have only one unified score.

This Week's Mythic+ Affix Breakdown:

2-Stage New Affix: Zarathos' Bargain: Ascension

During the fight, 10 "Ascension Orbs" will spawn over 4 seconds, with 2 orbs spawning each second. The orbs will appear within a 10-yard radius around Zarathos at random locations. Once they appear, they will cast "Stellar Ascension" over 6.5 seconds. If completed, this will increase all enemies' Haste by 10% and Movement Speed by 10% for 20 seconds, which can stack.

If players destroy these orbs, they will receive the Haste and Movement Speed buff. Each destroyed orb will grant all teammates a 2% boost to Haste and Movement Speed for 20 seconds, which can also stack.

Strategy: The orbs can be destroyed using displacements (knockbacks, pulls), crowd control (stuns, blinds), interrupts, or offensive dispels (like Arcane Torrent). Due to the staggered spawn times and locations, it’s hard to destroy all orbs at once with a single control effect. Players will need to manage each orb as they spawn, meaning everyone in the group will have a role to play.

4-Stage Affix: Tyrannical

This affix remains unchanged from previous versions. Boss health is increased by 30%, and bosses and their minions deal up to 15% more damage. This means boss fights this week will be much tougher.

7-Stage Affix: Challenger’s Burden

The penalty for death increases from 5 seconds to 15 seconds. If your group avoids deaths, it won't affect the run, but wiping will make beating the timer much harder.

10-Stage Affix: Both Fortified and Tyrannical Active

Starting from level 10, both Fortified and Tyrannical will always be active, meaning dungeons will have both stronger trash mobs and tougher bosses each week.

12-Stage Affix: Zarathos’ Cunning

At level 12, the Zarathos' Bargain affix is replaced with Zarathos’ Cunning, which increases the health and damage of all enemies by 20%. This makes level 12 dungeons 32% harder than level 11 dungeons, and all dungeons above level 12 will have this same challenge.

Mythic+ Rewards: Mounts and Set Gear in One Week

With the changes to the Mythic+ scoring system, players no longer need two weeks to complete all required scores. Since Mythic+ no longer distinguishes between Fortified and Tyrannical weeks, each dungeon will only have one score. According to tests by US players, you can achieve 2000 Mythic+ points by either finishing all dungeons on a timed +7 keystone or by completing a non-timed +8 keystone.

Reaching 2000 points will reward players with the achievement "Battle of the Depths Keystone Master: Season One", which grants the "Diamond Mech" mount.

Additionally, if you haven't defeated the final boss of the Heroic Raid or achieved 1600 points in PvP, you will also receive the achievement "Battle of the Depths Season 1: Supreme Cave Explorer". This achievement will reward a token, "Mark of the Supreme Cave Explorer," which you can redeem at an NPC for any piece of Heroic Raid set gear you need.

For many casual players, this is a great change, as you can essentially earn a piece of Heroic Raid set gear during the first week of Mythic+ dungeons. However, if you've already defeated the final boss in Heroic Raid or reached 1600 PvP points, you won’t receive the token again.

Mythic+ Unlocks New Set Appearance Effects

For players looking for a greater challenge, you can try completing all dungeons on a timed +10 keystone, which will give you 2500 points and the achievement "Battle of the Depths Keystone Hero: Season One". This achievement rewards the item "Radiant Arachnid Catalyst Stone", which unlocks a new appearance effect for your set gear, equivalent to having defeated the final boss on Mythic difficulty.
